ABSTRACT OF PAPER

Title of Paper:
Analysis on Indian Energy Interests in Gulf countries and Sino-Indian Cooperation

Paper Proposal Text :
Energy is the driving force for the economic growth and social development of a country, being precondition and guarantee for people’s life. It is estimated that in future 10 to 15 years, India will keep high speed in its economic growth and social development, which demands fast growth in transportation, relative industries concerning energy. However, due to lacking of energy resources and depending on imported energy largely, Indian energy security becomes Indian outstanding issue, only second to food security. Especially there is large gap between energy demand and energy supply. In order to meet the energy demand, oil import volume from Saudi Arabia will be increased, and oil import volume from Iran decreased due to US factor and new settlement system which remains to be proven. India is also speeding up energy distribution in Africa which will be an important energy base to meet energy gap. Energy plays such an significant role in national strategic developments for both China and India, the two developing countries that are actively involved in energy exploration overseas. Therefore, energy competition cannot be avoided between China and India, but no matter from history or from reality, Sino-Indian energy cooperation will dominate in the future.
