Abstract

This article examines issues of interpersonal social media surveillance among four university students in Kuwait and data reveals that surveillance concerns for young users in an Islamic culture and values. It revealed that respondents generally concerned with situated and immediate forms of surveillance. It is also found that respondents anticipate surveillant relations with family, friends, romantic interests, and classmates. Since law enforcement agencies, advertisers, marketers, employers and government have continued interest in social media especially, Facebook, respondents think that their personal information gathered can hurt their career or put them in a risk in the future.
