Human Rights Mechanism Involvement in Yemen from 2011-2014

Since April 2011 when young Yemeni people went to the streets in different parts of Yemen, the human rights mechanism was not much involved in Yemen revolution. In the middle of 2011, the first mission of the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights which came out with different recommendations.
The Human Rights Council debated that recommendations in September 2011 and came out with the resolution and called for the Yemeni government to establish independent commission to investigate human rights violations which took place in 2011.
The government of Yemen decided in 2012 to establish the independent commission to investigate the human rights violations but since then this commission did not see the light.
In 2012, the government of Yemen officially decided to allow the office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights to open its office in Sana\'a, Yemen. In 2012 and 2013, the Human Rights Council reviewed the situation of Human Rights in Yemen. In 2014, the Human Rights Council in its mechanism the universal, periodical review studied Yemen\'s record of human rights for the last four years and issued some recommendations in the subject.
The paper will highlight how the United Nations mechanism dealt with human rights development during the revolution in 2011 up to 2014 in Yemen.
The Security Council issued up to date two resolutions dealt with Yemen and touch upon human rights issue as well. The paper also will study how both Human Rights Council and Security Council was successful in dealing with the Yemeni issue.
